You can love someone and still fight about money, bedtimes and what to do on a Sunday. The relationship compatibility test looks at exactly those practical overlaps. You answer 10 questions about how you and your partner handle money, sleep, chores, friends, food and the future, and you get one of three results: opposites attract, good match or perfect match.

It is different from a quiz about feelings. Compatibility here means how smoothly your two lives fit together day to day, which is what decides whether living together is easy or exhausting. That makes it a favourite before moving in, before a long trip together, before an engagement, or simply when one of you keeps saying "we are so different".

You take it alone in about a minute. Have your partner take it too, then compare.

What does the relationship compatibility test measure?

Ten areas where couples either match or clash: money habits, sleep schedules, humour, weekend plans, how social you each are, future goals, chores, food, cleanliness and how you spend free time. Each question has four answers from complete opposites to exactly the same.

It is aimed at couples who are past the first weeks and are starting to see the real person: the one who leaves dishes, goes to bed at 4am or wants to spend every weekend with their family. New couples can use it as a preview, long-term couples as a check on which differences they have quietly worked around.

How does the compatibility test decide your result?

Answers that describe similarity score high and answers that describe difference score low. A total near the top gives perfect match, the middle gives good match, and the bottom gives opposites attract. The result page explains which areas pushed you where, so you are not left with just a label.

The most useful run is two separate runs. If you say your sleep schedules are quite similar and your partner says completely different, one of you has not noticed something, and that is a more interesting conversation than any score.

What questions are in the compatibility test?

They are about habits, not feelings. A few examples:

  • How do you handle money: one saves and one spends, or exactly the same way?
  • Your sleep schedules: night owl and early bird, or in bed at the same time?
  • Do you laugh at the same jokes, even the bad ones?
  • Your ideal weekend: you never agree, you take turns, or you always want the same thing?
  • Your taste in food: total opposites, some overlap, or you always order the same thing?

Does opposites attract mean we are not compatible?

No. Plenty of happy couples are opposites in habits and similar in values, and the quiz measures habits. An opposites attract result means you will need more deliberate agreements about money, sleep and chores than a couple who are naturally aligned. Many couples with that result have been together for decades. It is a description of effort required, not a prediction of failure.

When do couples usually take a compatibility test?

Right before a shared decision. Moving in together is the big one, followed by planning a long holiday, adopting a pet, buying something expensive or getting engaged. In the US and UK the test often shows up alongside roommate-style conversations about rent and routines; in India and the Philippines it is common when a couple is moving from a family home into their own place for the first time and realising their habits have never been tested. Friends also send it to each other as a joke about a new couple who seem wildly different. Either way, people take it to put words on differences they already sense, so that those differences become plans instead of arguments.

Relationship compatibility test FAQ

How is the compatibility test different from the couple test?

The couple test is a two-player game where your partner guesses your answers through a link. The compatibility test is a self-assessment of how alike your daily habits are. One checks attention, the other checks fit. Many couples do both on the same evening.

Can I take the compatibility test alone?

Yes, that is how it is designed. You answer about the two of you from your own point of view. For a fuller picture your partner takes it separately and you compare, but a solo run already shows which areas you see as aligned and which as a clash.

What does a perfect match result actually mean?

That you picked the most similar answer on almost every question: same money habits, same bedtime, same jokes, same plans. It is a playful label that describes an easy fit, not a guarantee. Couples with this result still argue, just usually not about chores or what to eat.

Is the compatibility test based on zodiac signs or birthdays?

No. It never asks for names, dates or star signs. Every answer comes from how you and your partner actually behave, which is a much better predictor of everyday harmony than anything astrological. There is also no percentage calculated from names.

Is the compatibility test useful before moving in together?

It is one of the best times to take it. The questions on sleep, cleanliness, chores and money are precisely the things that cause friction in a shared flat. Taking it a month before the move gives you time to agree on a few rules while everyone is still in a good mood.

How long is the compatibility test and is it free?

Ten questions, about one minute, completely free and without an account. You can retake it after a few months to see whether your habits have moved closer together, which they often do once a couple shares a home.
